about
Extra Introvert is the new single from Dott's third album.
It's a somber summer song about social anxiety.
Dott were in the middle of recording their third album, the follow up to 2018's Heart Swell (Graveface Records), when the Covid-19 pandemic put a stop to things.
Extra Introvert was recorded in a cottage in Leitrim with Frankie Pollard (Oh Boland), and mastered by Steve Fallone (The Breeders, Alvvays).
lyrics
Fallen down a hole, as empty as a fish-bowl.
Thought I knew it all, but now my back's against the wall.
Rather be at home, or anywhere alone.
Hiding in the bathroom, deciding my next move.
I'm getting late, while my thoughts percolate.
I might lie in bed, cringing over what I said.
Might have been a year ago, but I can't let it go.
If I was more like you, so effortlessly cool.
Filling up them big shoes, filling up them big shoes.
I'm getting late, while my thoughts percolate.
Can you wait? While I stutter and shake.
I don't know how to talk to you.
I'm getting late, while my thoughts percolate.
Can you wait? While I stutter and shake.
I don't know how to talk to you.

fantastic release! vinyl sleeve though promotes static and clings tightly to the record, trying to pull the record out can lead to scratches. i had to cut mine free and toss it which is a shame as the graphic treatment of it was really nice. wish anti-static sleeves were the norm, negligible cost difference with massive benefits to preservation of the media. jgladden

I wasn't sure what to expect from this. Pointless nostalgia? A sad reminder of better days? But as soon as Kristen Hersh's voice drops, it's clear this band is doing exactly what it wants, and you can get on board or get the fuck out the way. What a fantastic record. A truly unique sound and no time to wallow in the past. Five stars. chazzbot

I've been a fan of 5GDTTS from over the other side of the world ever since those original EPs came out, so this release really made my week. In particular, Blue Moon is just superb.
Now, another release featuring the rest of the Fanning sessions and some live tracks would really help cement their legacy. :-) Steve Evans
